Praying With Assurance: Keys to Profit and Progress

THE POSTURE OF HUMILITY IN PRAYER

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. One of the greatest hindrances to answered prayer is pride. Many people come to the place of prayer with arrogance, entitlement, or self-righteousness, forgetting that we stand before the throne of the Almighty. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Notice the sequence: humility first, then prayer, then God’s response. A haughty heart will never prevail in the courts of heaven.

Humility in prayer is not just bowing your head; it is recognising your utter dependence on God. James 4:6–7 declares, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Submission precedes authority. Before you can resist the devil effectively, you must first submit to God sincerely. This is why many prayer warriors shout at demons but see little results—because the foundation of humility is missing. True prayer is not about proving how strong you are but about acknowledging how weak you are without Him. It is casting yourself wholly on His mercy, not presenting your résumé.

Beloved, learn to posture yourself rightly before God in prayer. Come with repentance, sincerity, and dependence. Humility unlocks divine intervention where pride locks heaven’s doors. When you kneel before God in secret, heaven will stand for you in public. When you humble yourself, God Himself will lift you up in due time. Do not approach prayer as though God owes you; approach it as one privileged to stand before the King of kings. Today, let your posture be one of brokenness, not entitlement; gratitude, not complaint. When humility frames your prayer, you will experience the lifting hand of God in every area of life.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Have I been approaching God with pride or entitlement in prayer? How can I cultivate true humility so my prayers carry weight before heaven?

PRAYER:
Lord, strip me of pride and clothe me with humility. Let my posture in prayer always attract Your grace and mercy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
