Stewardship of Creationනියැදිය

The greatest healer
I just moved house. I’m absolutely exhausted in every sense. My new place is such an answer to prayer, but after a couple of weeks I’m still so depleted. There’s a mountain walk minutes away from my front door. On my first child-free morning, I decided it was worth an explore. I found an unmarked trail and took it. Heading straight up I was engulfed in foliage. The sun glittered through the gaps in the trees and the city’s unending sound soundtrack was silenced. I felt peace. I felt joy. I felt immense gratitude. I was reminded that from the very beginning God didn’t just give us creation to look at – He gave it to us to live in, care for, and be restored by.
Before there were buildings or screens or medicine cabinets, there were trees and rivers, mountains and fields. God placed Adam in a garden, not a palace. And long before humanity fell, stewardship of creation was one of our first callings. When we spend time in nature, our parasympathetic nervous system becomes activated. Our body begins to relax, breathing deepens, and our mind becomes clearer. Being surrounded by trees strengthens the immune system that fights disease and reduces inflammation. And yet, for all its benefits, nature does something even more profound for the soul: it draws us to the creator. Standing beneath a canopy of stars. Hearing waves crash on a rocky shore. We’re reminded that there is something greater. Creation that speaks to power, creativity, attention to detail – and kindness. All because this creator loves us! When we care for creation, we’re not just ‘going green’. We’re honouring the One who made it and aligning ourselves with His original design. Let’s receive that gift with gratitude – and pass it on through stewardship.

“In heaven we’ll be blessed with God’s new and perfect creation, but until then He’s entrusted us with His earthly creation. In light of that, how will we steward our time, treasure, resources, bodies and the environment around us to better serve God and others here on earth?” (Trustworthy Renters – Jodie Williams)
