The Seven Sayings of Jesus From the Crossනියැදිය

"Truly I Tell You, Today You Will Be with Me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43)
Crucifixion was reserved for the worst criminals — rebels, insurrectionists, and the lowest of society. The word criminal here is κακοῦργος (kakoúrgos), and often translates as an evildoer. One of the criminals mocks Jesus, but the other recognizes His innocence and simply asks, "Remember me when You come into Your kingdom."
Jesus' reply is astonishing. The Greek word for truly is ἀμήν (amḗn), an emphatic affirmation. And paradise (παράδεισος, parádeisos) was a term used in Jewish thought to refer to the Garden of Eden, a place of divine presence and peace. Jesus is saying that the thief will be with Him in that very day — immediately in the presence of God.
This interaction is a stunning display of grace. The thief had no time for good works, no opportunity to earn favor — he simply placed his faith in Jesus, and that was enough.

Prayer
Jesus, Your grace is breathtaking. You offer eternal life not based on my works, but on faith in You alone. Help me to trust in Your mercy and to never lose hope for others, knowing that no one is beyond Your redemption. Amen.
