Living One: A Study of Integrity in Hebrewsනියැදිය

Day 7: No one may boast – a gift to receive
Saved by Grace, Not Performance
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)
Over the centuries, many books have been written about a daring hero who must climb a high and torturous mountain to save his one true love. On his journey he has to overcome various obstacles and risks his life, all for love. Fortunately, most stories end well, and they lived happily ever after.
You didn’t climb your way into salvation—you were carried. There were no mountains to climb or seas to cross or ferocious beasts to slay. You were saved by grace, which means the pressure is off. You don’t have to experience performance anxiety, because no amount of performance on your side can earn God’s love; you are invited to simply respond to it. So many believers live exhausted, still trying to prove they’re worthy. But grace reminds us: Jesus proved it for us.
God doesn’t love you more when you get it right, and he doesn’t love you less when you fall. His grace is not a reward—it’s a rescue. That changes everything.
Designed on Purpose, for a Purpose
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
You are not an accident. You are God’s handiwork—his masterpiece. Not only were you saved from something, you were saved for something. There are specific good works—divine assignments—already prepared with your name on them.
When you discover who you are in Christ, you begin to walk confidently in what you’re called to do. Identity fuels purpose. You’re not trying to become someone—you already are someone. Now walk in it.
Prayer Reflection
Father, thank you for saving me by grace. I receive it as a gift, not something I could ever earn. Help me to walk in the good works you’ve prepared for me, confident that I was created on purpose, for a purpose. Amen.
