Born Into Battle

Esther’s Call to Courage
When Esther hesitated to step into her calling to save her people, her cousin Mordecai reminded her of something powerful: “If you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance… will arise from another place… And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 (NIV)

Esther wasn’t just living a beautiful story—she was born into a battle. And so are you.

A Battle I Didn’t See Coming

I don’t know your story, but I know this:
You were created on purpose, for a purpose.

Most of us don’t realize it at first, but we’re born into a battlefield. Not a physical one—but a spiritual one. And that battle has been raging for thousands of years. It’s the war of good versus evil. God versus Satan. And it’s not just some symbolic metaphor. It’s real. And it’s personal.

The enemy doesn’t go after things that don’t matter. He goes after the things that hurt God most. That means you are his target—because you are what God loves most.

From the moment I was born, I didn’t know I was a threat. I didn’t know the trauma, the confusion, and the wounds I’d face were part of a larger strategy. But the enemy did. And he wasted no time.

At the age of 6, I remember wanting to die. The abuse, the fear, and the weight of trauma were too much for a little boy to carry. That feeling lasted for much of my young life through my teenage years. I didn’t understand why life felt like constant pain. But now I see it more clearly: I was under attack before I even had a chance to fight.

That’s how the enemy works. If he can’t destroy you outright, he’ll distract you. He’ll try to make you miserable, to blame God, and to believe you’re worthless. But that’s a lie. Because you were created not just to survive the battle—but to win it.

Devotional Reflection

You were not born into peace. You were born into war. A war for your soul. A war for your future. A war for your legacy.

And here’s the truth: Your existence threatens the enemy.

You may not feel powerful, but your very presence disrupts the enemy’s agenda. Because when a man steps into his God-given identity—when he becomes a father, a leader, a warrior for truth—chains start to break. Families start to heal. Generations start to shift.

That’s why the enemy works so hard to stop you.

But God’s plan is greater.

Esther was afraid to act. She didn’t feel ready. But she was reminded: You were placed here for such a time as this. The same is true for you.

You were placed in your family, in your story, in your city, in this moment—for a reason. You are not an accident. You are not a mistake. You are not beyond repair.

You are God’s plan.

Action Step

Write down the phrase: “I was born for such a time as this.”
Put it somewhere visible—on your mirror, dashboard, or phone. Every time you see it, remind yourself: You are in a battle, but you are not alone. And you were created to make a difference.

Reflection Questions

  1. Have you ever felt like your life was under attack for no clear reason?
  2. In what areas of your life have you believed the lie that you’re insignificant?
  3. How does it change your perspective to realize that your life threatens the enemy’s plans?
