Manger Throne

5 න් 5 වන දිනය

Sometimes I think about the angels standing on tiptoes to peer down upon the miracle that is unfolding in Bethlehem. They don't understand the marvel of mercy they see transpiring. To them, Jesus is supposed to be on His throne in heaven where He had been since before He created them. And now they find Him in such an unlikely and unexpected place.

I can almost hear them murmuring and whispering to one another:

WHAT KIND OF THRONE IS THIS?!?! A manger is not a throne!

Where is the Royal Crown?

What about His majestic robe and scepter?

Why is there not glory emanating from him?

Why is the whole world not singing a song of praise and adoration to him?

Why are the nations not bowing down?

Talk about something they could not have foreseen. That seems to be a real thread in the tapestry of Christmas – the surprise. God is doing the unexpected, the unanticipated. The wonderful.

(Prayer)

King of majesty lying in straw,

I find You being so tiny . . . while also part of the most massive act of redemption in all of eternity. I find You appearing so frail . . . while being the ruler who has power greater than all other powers combined. I see You seeming so ordinary . . . while coming to show extraordinary grace and mercy. Like the angels, I am surprised as I behold Your incarnation. I’m in awe of Your wisdom . . .amazed at Your ways . . . overwhelmed by Your love. I stand in wonder and worship You Jesus.

Amen.
