Manger Throne

5 න් 3 වන දිනය

In a season like Christmas when expectations run so high, there are sure to be disappointments.

Maybe it's a kid who doesn’t get a certain toy they want. Maybe it's an employee who doesn’t get the holiday bonus they are expecting. Maybe it's a family grieving an estranged member who promised they’d join the family for the holiday – and then they don’t. It’s a season that is ripe for let downs.

I see in the biblical story leading up to Christmas a renewed reason to trust in the One who never disappoints; the God who is faithful to every promise and prophecy . . . no matter how long we must wait until it is fulfilled.

Even though some of the prophecies regarding Jesus’ first coming left people scratching their head, God was true to the smallest detail of His Word. Examples:

1 – “A virgin will be with child” (Isaiah 7:14) – absurd, ridiculous, nothing like this had ever happened before and yet this is exactly what came to be.

2 – A baby who will be “Mighty God, Eternal Father” (Isaiah 9:6) – again, unheard of and yet, that’s precisely who He was.

3 – “A son will be given to us” (Isaiah 9:6) – this child was ‘given,’ a term that speaks of preexistence.

We belong to the King who’s ways and thoughts are so much higher than our own. So however our story is unfolding, even if it is very different than the one we hoped for or envisioned, He remains worthy of our complete trust.

(Prayer)

Promise Keeper,

Though there might be some things this holiday season that don’t go exactly as I wish for them to, You will never disappoint me. You are fully trustworthy. Whatever You do in my life and however You do it, You will do it perfectly.

I believe – and I rejoice.

Amen.
