Day 10: Ablaze With Evangelism

To regularly experience the power of God and keep our souls ablaze, we have to engage regularly in behaviors that trigger that power. This is the promise of the Great Commission: The manifested presence of God will be demonstrated in the life of any believer, church, or ministry that will “go” with the Gospel.

There’s great joy in a church that has altars packed with those who give their lives to Christ. Miracles can happen in that atmosphere. Deliverances, healings, and financial miracles take place. The supernatural presence of Jesus spills over into the church and becomes a catalyst that ignites and reignites fire in that whole congregation — all because they choose to obey His Great Commission.

But there is a dark side of the Great Commission, a reason for it that many people like to avoid talking about: Hell. The existence of Hell is a central doctrine of the Bible, and when people die outside of Christ, they go there. It is a real place, so real and so horrible that God sent Jesus to the earth to pay the price that would ensure that people didn’t have to go there. That’s why we must burn with passion for evangelism and make sure we take the Gospel to every single person who is outside of Christ.

Billy Graham once said, “I am conscious of the fact that the subject of Hell is not a very pleasant one. It is very unpopular, controversial, and misunderstood. But as a minister, I must deal with it. I cannot ignore it.”

This should be the attitude of every believer. Jesus died and rose for this, and we must live for His mission. It is a miracle that God gives new life to people who are spiritually dead, and when they receive the gift of forgiveness and salvation, they are immediately saved from the risk of going to Hell!

Jesus tells us that we need to go and keep on going, not just on one mission trip but on a perpetual mission to save souls from Hell. When we seek out the lost and bring them back, Jesus makes this glorious promise: “...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20 KJV). God’s promise to those who gather souls to Him is that He will show up, and His presence will be with us! So we must go — it’s a spiritual fuel we need to add to our fire!

For Your Consideration:

  • When was the last time that you witnessed to someone about Jesus’ love for them?
  • How can you show the love of Christ in your daily life so that unbelievers become open to hearing the unadulterated Gospel that can save their eternal souls?
