Throughout Scripture, God is revealed as Jehovah Jireh—the Lord who provides. It is in His nature to serve and provide. He provided when He created humans, the earth, and everything in it, and again when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us. We are all living, breathing testimonies of God’s provision and love.

My testimony comes as a pastor’s kid whose family relocated to a new country with almost nothing. I was only five years old at the time, so ignorance was bliss. Sleeping in the living rooms of friends and relatives, selling hats in the park—it all felt normal to me. My dad would preach, my mom would sing, and I would try to play the drums (as well as a five-year-old could). Even in the hardest times, God was present.

My parents remained faithful, putting God first, and He provided for us again and again. He brought the right people into our lives at the right time and made a way. Our church has now served the community for over 25 years, and God has provided every step of the way. All glory to Him.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV) says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I believe that when we put God first, even in difficult seasons, He will always provide.

I am reminded of Paul and Silas, who were imprisoned unjustly but remained faithful, singing and praying in their trial, and God delivered them. He always does. We can choose faith over fear and truth over the enemy’s lies, knowing our God will always provide.
