Priorities of the Kingdomනියැදිය

PREPARATION COMES BEFORE KNOWLEDGE
MAIN IDEAS
• JESUS responds to the disciples’ curiosity and desire to know when the end of the world will come. But this is known only to God the Father.
• Therefore, JESUS clarifies that, in regard to the end of times, the Christians’ priority should be preparedness, not knowing when the end will come.
• There will be a similarity to the flood in Noah’s days when God saved Noah at the same time when divine judgment was triggered.
• JESUS insists that we must wait for that day in vigil and preparation.
People’s fascination with and questions about the end mainly has to do with knowing WHEN that day will come. JESUS does not answer this curiosity of the disciples but explains that this secret belongs to God the Father. Although JESUS Himself did not purport to know the day of the end, throughout the history of the church, people have attempted to make predictions time and time again. Regarding the coming of the end, JESUS sets another priority for his followers: to be prepared for that day – so properly, that they will not be taken by surprise. He says that just as God did not forget Noah and saved him, He will not forget about those who are prepared either but will save them. Those who attempt to answer the question, "When will the end come?”, do a disservice to the KINGDOM because every time they make any prediction about the end and it doesn’t happen, it discourages their followers more and more, leading many of them to lose their faith. It is not a priority to know when the end will come, but to be prepared at all times, because death itself is also an end – an end that no one can control.
If you want to know when the end is coming so as to prepare yourself in haste at the last moment, you have taken the wrong path spiritually. Turn to JESUS this very minute, while you are holding in your hand the Word of God, which He left for you. He greatly loves you and He holds the solution to all your problems!
