Immeasurably More

DAY 3 OF 5

## Immeasurably More... Just In Exodus 34:6-7, God describes who He is to Moses - this is a big deal! And do you know one of the ways God describes Himself? As a God who is just! Our God, who is also merciful and forgiving, knows when to serve justice, and He’s the only one who can. But if we serve a God of justice, why is there so much injustice in the world? Why is there war, famine, poverty, sex trafficking, natural disasters, racism, riots, and more? The reality is, in the beginning, God said His creation was good.  But ever since The Fall where Adam and Eve sinned, we’ve been living in a world where a lot of mankind’s choices, made in our free will, break God’s heart and have warped His creation. God has always wanted His people to be an example to the world of what it looks like to love and respect one another, opposing injustice. That’s why in the Old Testament, when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, God gave them The Law which provided guidance as to how His people should live. There were specific laws to help the poor, to protect widows, to free the oppressed! Time and time again, God spoke through prophets to remind His people to care for those in need, to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. Then God sent his Son, Jesus, who showed us what it looks like to live a life of justice, and welcomed us again to be part of God’s kingdom. A kingdom that Jesus said is breaking out on earth where God is in charge, we love one another and we trust that He has the final say. Remember that God is just and in the end, He will work out all His purposes for good. You can choose to trust God’s justice, even in the midst of the injustices we see in the world today. One of the most powerful things we can do is pray on behalf of the world. We can trust that as we pray, God hears our cries and is working to bring about justice. Who knows what situations could be shifted through you as you pray today. QUESTIONS Q: What form of injustice do you see in the world that you could commit to praying into daily? Q: Are there any practical situations around you where you can peacefully stand up to injustice? Prayer: God, we thank you that you are a God of justice, that you are near to the broken-hearted and hear our cries for justice. Though we may not always understand your timing, Lord, help us to trust that you are working for justice. Help us to partner with you in praying for our nation, our schools, our families, and our friends in Jesus' name.
