Has God ever asked you to do something difficult?
Our faith doesn’t grow in our comfort zone. God is ready to test and grow Abraham’s faith capacity, leading to him to his biggest challenge of obedience yet. God asks Abraham to go to mountain and sacrifice his only son, Isaac, as an offering. How could God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son? This is the one that would be the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham that he would have many descendants!
At first glance, it sounds like God is after Abraham’s son Isaac. That, in some twisted way, God wants this human sacrifice. God doesn’t require human sacrifice, nor does he want Abraham to sacrifice his son. That’s not who God is. God’s not after Abraham’s son. He’s after Abraham’s obedience.
Abraham responds with prompt and complete obedience, trusting that God will provide.
Obedience to God isn’t something that comes easily or naturally for us. How do you need to be obedient to God today?

God has given His people a purpose: to connect everyone to Jesus and his mission. In order to pursue the mission of Jesus, we cannot have a faith that is timid or cowardly. As we spend time looking at the life of Abraham, a man of courageous faith and sacrificial obedience, we will be challenged to be FEARLESS for the mission of Jesus.
