What Jesus Said About the Cost of DiscipleshipExemplo

What are we referring to when we talk about the cost of discipleship?
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me (Matthew 10:38).
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me (Luke 14:33).
The "cost" of discipleship starts with submitting to the Lordship of Jesus. The Lordship of Jesus is absolute – asking for total submission and obedience. The concept of someone "Lording" over you, submission, and obedience are offensive words in our present society.
Some refer to what we are giving up: a promising career, giving up fame or riches, not using their "talents" but "just" preaching the gospel and caring for people. The question is, however, is this really "costly"? Is it so bad to give up a career, fame, and riches that are only for my own benefit and glory? Contrast this with feeding the weak and neglected, alleviating pain and suffering, and preaching a message that will literally change people's lives for millions of years to come.
Question: What is the most challenging thing you sense God is asking of you? How are you going to deal with that?
