BlessedExemplo

God tells us in His Word that He blesses those of us who hunger for justice. “Hunger and thirst”—we know that feeling. It’s a longing, a craving, an aching. As we grow closer and closer to Jesus, our hearts start to reflect His, and what we feel is often a good indicator of His heart, or what’s a violation of it. God is loving, joyful, peaceful, kind, good, just, noble, and true. Following Him reflects a life of who He is. It’s a life where love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, justice, nobility, and truth are the way things run.
We live in a world that is broken. It often doesn’t reflect God’s desires, and our hearts know it. The gut punch we feel when we see someone sick and dying? That’s a reflection of the heart of God. Death and disease have no place in His Kingdom. Death and disease feel wrong because they are wrong. That ache you have for justice? That’s a reflection of the heart of God. Injustice and unfairness have no place in God’s Kingdom. Pay attention to your “hunger and thirst.” It’s an echo of the heart of Jesus.

Our view of blessed is often tethered to a continually changing spectrum—our circumstances. If life is good, in our view, we’re blessed. If life isn’t going well, in our view, we’re not blessed. But is our definition of blessed the same as God’s? We’ll look at how God defines “blessed.” It turns out, we’re very likely missing how “blessed” we all are—regardless of what’s going on around us.
