Release, Rest, Remain

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5

THE POWER OF REMAINING

In John 15:27, Jesus tells His disciples that they will “testify” about Him (CSB). He wasn’t giving them a job description. He was pointing to their lived experience. Their nearness to Him. The transformation that came simply from being with Him. Because they remained, their lives were marked by His presence. And that kind of transformation always speaks.

He’s saying the same to us.

The reason you can testify is not because you’ve mastered Scripture or memorized the right answers. It’s because you’ve been with Him. You’ve walked through seasons of joy and struggle, of celebration and grief. You’ve prayed desperate prayers and whispered thanks. You’ve seen Him provide, comfort, correct, and heal. You’ve remained.

And remaining changes you.

It bears fruit—not always immediately and not always in the ways you expect. But it’s there. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control…these aren’t traits we manufacture, they’re the result of abiding. When we stay connected to the Vine, His life flows through ours, and fruit begins to form.

If today finds you in a season of remaining—where things feel unseen, slow, or quiet—don’t underestimate what God is doing in you. The fruit may not be obvious yet, but it’s forming. The story may not feel finished, but it’s unfolding. And one day, maybe even without trying, your life will speak clearly of the One who was with you through it all.

That’s the power of remaining. That’s the promise of abiding with Him.

As you incorporate releasing, resting, and remaining into the rhythm of your life, you won’t always get it “right.” There will be days when you hold on too tightly, when rest feels impossible, when remaining in Him feels like work instead of worship.

And yet, His invitation stands.

When your heart feels heavy—release.

When the noise of life overwhelms you—rest.

When doubt creeps in—remain.

Not perfectly but faithfully.

Because this rhythm of release, rest, and remain has never been about getting it all right. It’s about drawing near to the One who already has.

What does it mean to you to be “with Jesus,” not just in belief but in practice?

About this Plan

Release, Rest, Remain

If you feel burdened and weary this week, receive this invitation to slow down and be with Jesus, who doesn’t demand more of you but in¬stead asks you to lay things down. Who calls you not to passivity but to actively rest in who He says He is. And to remain there, today, because He who calls you is faithful.
