Ignite a Wildfire

We all know that a small spark in dry areas can cause a great wildfire. Whether it’s by the wind causing friction between dry blades of grass or someone being careless with a match, the right conditions can escalate the flames quickly!

Now… Close your eyes & imagine that all of us are carrying the flame of the Holy Spirit, & the people we come into contact with each day (at our homes, schools, workplaces, etc.) are the “dry blades of grass”. Are you seeing it? Now, add the wind of God blowing over & through us!

What do you see happening at that exact moment?

My mind quickly goes to a consuming wildfire that escalates in no time, just like on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:2-4). The “conditions” were favorable & before they knew it, they were being consumed by the sound of a rushing wind & tongues of fire appearing above each person’s head, giving the gift of tongues! They were consumed with the Helper (or Advocate) that Jesus had promised them & that same Helper lives in all of us today!

Remember that “fire” you felt & carried at camp? Don’t quench the Holy Spirit (1 Thess. 5:19), that fire, when you’re being urged to reach out to others & share Jesus! LET IT IGNITE & SPREAD! There is a dying world that is searching for the truth & YOU, my friends, are carrying the light of the world (that is Jesus) within you (John 1:5)! It is up to all of us to continue to fan the flames in everything we say and do through constant prayer, reading His Word, worship, & action!

Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You with thanksgiving, honor, & praise! Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit & the all-consuming fire that You have put into my spirit, Lord! Let it continue to burn brighter and hotter than ever before as I become a living sacrifice for You! Jesus, please be with me as I go forward with the boldness that only You can give as I show others who You really are! I love You, and thank You for always guiding me! In Your precious name I pray, Amen!

Try This:

Spend 10 minutes with God asking Him to show you who you can encourage & spread the flames to next. Then, pray for them to receive it!
