Pride and Self Esteemਨਮੂਨਾ

Humility and Service – Day 5
True humility can’t stay hidden—it shows itself in action. One of the clearest ways it appears is through service, especially when no one is watching.
Question and Answer
How does true humility appear in serving others?
Humility is revealed in serving without seeking recognition, placing others’ needs and God’s will above our pride or desire for attention.
Reflection
The Bible gives clear examples of the value of humble service:
- Jesus said, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28).
- Paul called himself “a servant of Jesus Christ” and always sought to serve with a genuine heart.
- Humility does not choose whom to serve; it serves everyone equally, without discrimination.
Serving may look humble, but if our motive is to boost our self-esteem or gain recognition, it’s pride in disguise. A true servant serves because Christ taught and empowered us, not to be seen by others.
Ask yourself:
- Am I serving only to be recognized?
- Can I serve with a pure heart even when no one notices?
- Are my motivations from Christ or from my desire for approval?
Response/Application
- Practice serving without seeking recognition: small daily actions matter.
- Examine your motivations when helping someone: are they humble or self-promoting?
- Remember that at the end of life, we give an account to Jesus, and He is the only One who matters.
Suggested Action
- Pray: “Lord, show me if my service is humble or if I still seek recognition.”
- Choose one action today to serve someone without anyone noticing.
- Reflect on the difference between serving out of love and serving for self-promotion.
- Share this reflection with someone and encourage each other to serve humbly.
