Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

Let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband (Ephesians 5:33 NKJV).
Do you have a Spirit–filled marriage?
God desires to bless His people through godly marriages, which produce spiritual children. Jacob is commanded not to take a heathen spouse (Genesis 28:2). Why? Genesis 28 shows marrying a believer as the path of blessing, “May God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may be an assembly of peoples; and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and your descendants with you” (Genesis 28:3-4 NKJV).
Jacob is quite the rascal, but yet he has been given a very special bride in Rachel. When he meets her, he finds that she is industrious and she’s hard-working. He is smitten, most importantly for him, by her beauty. Jacob, though, having been a deceiver, needs to learn certain lessons in life. His father-in-law, Laban, would be a man who would teach him those lessons, as Laban was more devious than Jacob. Sadly, in the case of Jacob, he had to learn these lessons the hard way. We’re told in Galatians 6:7 (NKJV), “do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” Thankfully, Jacob came to learn his lesson, but he learned it the hard way.
Employment Point: Strive to have a Spirit–filled marriage, leading to godly children.
