The Experience of the Spirit

On the day of Pentecost, in Acts 2, something incredible happened: the disciples were all gathered together when suddenly a sound came from heaven, like a strong wind, and it filled the whole house. Then tongues like fire appeared and rested on each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They started speaking in languages they didn’t know, praising God.

This wasn’t just a spectacular moment, it was the beginning of something deep: the experience of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit isn’t some abstract force. He’s the living presence of God in us. When He touches us, a light switches on inside our hearts. He brings peace, real peace, not based on what’s happening around us. He brings joy, the kind that doesn’t fade, even in tough times. It’s like our heart finally realizes it can trust. So we let go, like a child in the Father’s arms.

The Holy Spirit changes us. He makes us feel close to God, one with Him. He’s no longer just “up there”, He’s with us, in us. This is the experience that moves us from religion to relationship. It’s not just knowing things about God, it’s knowing Him personally, loving Him, and letting Him love us.

It’s a rebirth. Things inside us that were dead, hope, faith, the will to live, come back to life. We’re no longer prisoners of our past, of sin, of guilt. The Spirit sets us free. It’s like breathing for the first time.

That day, people from all over the world heard the wonders of God in their own language. The Spirit unites, not divides. He makes us part of something bigger. He makes us church, He makes us family.

And it all starts there: letting ourselves be touched. Opening our heart. And saying, “Holy Spirit, come upon me too.”
