The Bible in Song - 30 Days of Scripture Musicਨਮੂਨਾ

John 1 - The Word
Jesus is the context for everything.
I'm in love with the gospel of John. If I could live in it, I would make it my home. 😊
Somebody described the gospel of John as, "A pool in which a child may wade and an elephant may swim."
It's simple, yet so profound.
"In the beginning was the Word." (John 1:1, NKJV) "The Word" here means Jesus. It's a person.
So, you could read John 1 as: In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God. And Jesus was God.
God created everything through the Word, through Jesus.
That's why it doesn't make sense to read the Bible without Jesus. Jesus should be your context. From Genesis to Revelation. Jesus should be the glasses through which you read Scripture. He is the full revelation of God.
You know what happens if you read scripture without your "Jesus-glasses" on? You end up with the word, or... a word.
Don't believe me? The Pharisees and Scribes were the leading authorities in Jesus' days when it came to knowing the word, scripture. But they ended up nailing the Word to a cross.
Countless wars were started quoting scripture. Even today. Rulers and politicians are claiming the word for their political agendas.
If Jesus isn't your context, then the Bible could easily become a book to slap somebody over the head with.
Just as God created everything through Jesus, so, too, let everything you do and say have its origin in Jesus. ❤️
John 1 - The Word
1. In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
 and the Word was God.
18. Near to the Father's heart.
2. He existed in the beginning with God.
3. God created everything through Him,
and nothing was created except through Him.
 Nothing was made without Him.
4. The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and His life brought light to everyone.
5. The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Cannot overcome it.
14. So the Word became human and made His home among us.
He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
And we have seen His glory,
the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Words from: New Living Translation (NLT), except for:
- Verse 1: (NKJV)
- Verse 3: was made without Him. (GNT)
- Verse 5: overcome it. (NIV)
