Matthew 6 - Look at the Birds
Worries. Anxiety. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed by them. And who could blame you, right? I mean, look at the world around you. Where's the off-switch on this thing?!
I love what Jesus says about this. It's as profound as it is simple: "Look at the birds." (Matthew 6:26, NLT)
What does it mean?
I can tell you what it means to me.
Birds aren't afraid to fall. They aren't afraid of tomorrow. They live in the now. They live today, not tomorrow. In a sense, they are the perfect example of how to trust God. They teach us to trust. Trust the One who has made them, who has made you.
And Jesus goes on to say, if God cares for them, how much more will He care for you.
You are His beloved.
Look at the birds. Take your eyes off of your problems, your worries, your... (fill in the blank). Take a breath and take a look at God's goodness.
He will give you what you need for today. But that's the thing. It's only for today, not for tomorrow. Cause tomorrow doesn't exist yet. You get enough grace for 24 hrs. So if you live in the future, you will have a double burden, and the grace for today won't cover that. 😉
Don't future trip, live today, and learn to trust God. Look up, look at the birds. 🐦☺️
Matthew 6 - Look at the birds
26. Look at the birds.
25. I tell you not to worry about everyday life.
27. Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
30. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers He will certainly care for you.
34. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
