Kingdom Influence

It seems like today everybody wants to be an influencer of some sort, whether that is on social media, in the sports and entertainment industry, or even in the church world. This can be a good and a bad thing for us as kingdom agents in the marketplace. If this desire is born out of selfish ambition and ego, then we can safely say this is a bad thing. Yet we must be careful to not let the pendulum swing too far, as "godly influence" is an important aspect of our ministry in God.

In the book of Philippians, Paul admonishes the believers to not embrace the values of the world's system, yet they were to shine as lights in the world. This is encouraging for us today. We do not have to buy into tainted values or ways of thinking to get ahead or make an impression. Paul says that as we hold our faith and operate in the value system of the kingdom (such as kindness, gentleness, peace, love, hope, integrity, and justice), God is able to make us shine.

Influence in the marketplace comes from God's hand as we operate in step with the ways and leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Creative ideas, problem-solving initiatives, peace among the team in the workplace, promotions in our careers, and the enlargement of our influence in the marketplace come to us with the help and instigation of the Holy Spirit so that God's kingdom can be displayed and expanded dynamically through us.


Marketplace Prayer:

Father,

I thank You that You equip me and anoint me so powerfully in my marketplace callings. You invite me to be a shining light wherever I work and play. You have called me to be a powerful witness amid some dark environments, among people who seem to not care about the values of the kingdom too much, yet I thank you that I can be one of your kingdom agents for change and influence. Holy Spirit help me with wisdom that is manifested as creative ideas, problem-solving strategies, and an anointing of peace that goes beyond what people can understand. I love you and thank you for this kingdom calling in and to the marketplace in Jesus' name.
