Faith Formation Framework Series 4: Faith Catalyzed by Family Intimacy and Intentionalityਨਮੂਨਾ

Talking Faith Together
Focus
Breath prayer: “Guide our words, Lord.”
Listen
Scripture: Colossians 3:16 (NRSV)
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God."
Reflection:
Conversations about faith don’t need to be perfect or polished. They are conversations of honesty, mutual learning, and gentle encouragement. When parents and caregivers create space for young people to voice questions, share what they’re learning, and wonder aloud, they create a culture of trust. We do not pass down faith by controlling it, but by modeling how we ourselves are growing and learning. Faith conversations often happen best in the unplanned moments—on a walk, cooking dinner, or getting to school.
Apply
How can you create space for open, honest conversations about faith in your family this week?
Respond
Lord, guide my words and make me a safe place for my family to talk about faith. Let your wisdom fill our conversations with honesty, curiosity, and love.

About this Plan

The idea of “family” is different in many cultures. It was even different in the many cultures that made up the Biblical world! It can be broken, whole, or something in between, even in the Bible. However, one thing has remained constant: family is formative for every human being. Through Jesus, we are adopted into the family of faith that God creates. Whatever our families look like, Christians are trying to live as a part of God’s Divine family in many different ways. That’s what we will discuss this week.
