Day 18: Faith in the Fire

Daily Thread: Daniel was a prophet during the exile, serving in the royal courts of Babylon. Unlike other prophets, Daniel’s book combines narrative stories of faithfulness with visions of God’s sovereignty over future kingdoms. His message reminded God’s people that even in exile, God was in control of history. The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's refusal to worship Nebuchadnezzar’s image demonstrated that covenant faithfulness mattered even in a foreign land. Daniel’s visions pointed forward to God’s eternal kingdom, fulfilled in Christ.
