TODAY’S STORY
The Beloved Son from Matthew 3:1-3, 13-17; Luke 3:15-16; John 1:29; Malachi 3:1
Note to the parents:
Children may have lots of questions about these Bible stories. You don’t have to have all the answers. Instead, show them that you’re still a learner just like they are. Say something like, “That’s a great question! I’m not sure. Let’s ask God to help us.”
Help your child recall the story by asking simple questions about what happened.
Examples:
- What did John tell people to do?
- When John saw Jesus coming, what did he call Jesus?
- What happened when John baptized Jesus?
Together, think about what you have learned. Invite your child to ask you the question.
Encourage them to add their thoughts or fill in a blank when prompted.
What did we learn about GOD?
- God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to take away the sins of the world.
What did we learn about PEOPLE?
- People can turn away from sin, ask God to forgive them, and choose to follow Jesus. This was true back then, and it’s still true for us today.
What did we learn about JESUS?
- Jesus is the very loved Son of God.
- His obedience to God the Father was good and pleasing.
- The Holy Spirit came down on Him to stay.
What do you want to say to God after reading this story? (Prayer)
Let's pray together.
God,
Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus.
Please help me to turn from bad things and follow You instead.
(Name ways you can follow Jesus.)
Amen.
Build anticipation for tomorrow:
The Holy Spirit came on Jesus so that He could teach others about God’s way. I can’t wait to see what Jesus does next!
