Legacy Lessons W/Vance K. Jackson

DAY 13 OF 30

Satan was after legacy.

Satan was after lineage. Satan was after the Promise. When your character is corrupted—your legacy is perverted. Corrupted character forfeits destiny. Disobedience forfeits the promise. As long as Adam and Eve obeyed God—they thrived. Obedience breeds success. Legacy is tied to your obedience. Let go of sin. Let go of the things that cause you to disobey God’s Command.

In fact, Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭4-5‬ declares, “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

This moment between Satan and Eve is more than a Sunday School lesson—it’s the foundation and very fabric of leadership and character. You have a choice. In the private moments of your heart, in the boardroom, in private and in public—you have a choice. You can choose to submit to the voice of God or submit to the voice of the world.

Legacy is built upon the decisions you make today. Your choices direct the course of your life. Character is a decision. Consistency is a lifestyle. Your legacy is founded upon the consistency of your character. Diligently make decisions that reflect the Heart of Christ. Your character is critical for the next level.

The Garden was the starting point. It was the “proving” ground for mankind. Even with perfect conditions—the character of man was still flawed. Without Christ—our character is flawed. Without Christ—we’re not able to flourish. Without Christ—the mistakes of the past limit our future. Through Christ—we can do all things. Through Christ—we are set free.

Where Adam and Eve failed—through Christ we are more than conquerors. Where past generations faltered—through Christ we are victorious. Where Eve and Adam missed the mark—Christ came to make us complete. Christ became our Blueprint. Eve was created to carry life and multiply. Eve was created to carry legacy. However When sin entered—Eve carried and multiplied sin introducing lack and death.

The thorns and thistles of the wilderness represented the exact opposite of the fulness the garden. The generational cycle of sin caused mankind to toil in the wilderness instead of thriving in the garden. Christ came so that you can live. Christ came so that you can thrive. Christ came so that you can be set free.

Let the mistakes of the past go and choose to forgive. Let the burdens of the past go and choose to create a new family path. Christ came to set you and your familial legacy free. Let His Way lead your life. His Light lights the path. Walk in His Light and create a new path for your future.
