DAY 17 OF 30

“and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis ‭5‬:‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Enoch walked with God. You have a choice. Adam and Eve had a choice and communed with God, yet they chose to sin. Cain and Abel had a choice, yet Cain decided to yield to sin. The descendants of Adam were stuck in the cycle of sin, and yet Enoch walked with God.

When everyone around Enoch worshipped the things of this world—Enoch walked with God. When everyone around Enoch worshipped the culture of this world—Enoch walked with God. Enoch did not have a Godly example or pattern of leadership to follow—yet, Enoch walked with God. Leadership is a choice, and character is a daily decision. Enoch made the decision to walk with God daily.

According to Genesis‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Enoch lived to be 365 years old. Genesis‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬, “and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:” In our Roman calendar, we have 365 days in a year. Enoch walked with God daily for 365 years, so much so that God translated him. Enoch did not see death. Enoch did not taste death.

Even though Enoch’s lineage tasted death—he walked with God. Even though Enoch’s lineage tasted sin—he walked with God. Enoch’s heart was acceptable to God. Enoch did not have a Godly example. Enoch submitted to God in all his ways. Enoch had children. In fact, Enoch’s child’s name was Methuselah, “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬ ‭KJV‬‬.

Methuselah is the longest-living person in the Bible. “And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.” Genesis‬ ‭5‬:‭27‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Methuselah lived a long life. His father, Enoch was translated and did not see death—and Methuselah lived to be 969 years old! Obedience has benefits.

Are you walking with God? Imagine God being so pleased with every aspect of your life that one day you simply walk into Heaven—without the taste of death. Enoch’s life was so pleasing that God accepted him as he was.

His thought life was holy. His private life was holy. His public life was holy. His family life was holy. His daily affairs were holy and acceptable. Enoch is the only person in the Bible that God allowed to walk into Heaven. Every aspect of Enoch’s life pleased God. Remember, Enoch didn’t taste the Garden of Eden before the fall of man—yet he pleased God.

You have a choice. You may not have a pattern of success. You may not have a pattern of Godly leadership. You may not have a pattern to follow—that didn’t stop Enoch.

In fact, according to Strong’s Concordance, Enoch’s name meant ‘dedicated’ (H2585). Enoch was dedicated to serving God in every area of his life. Enoch dedicated his ways to God—even though he didn’t have a pattern.

Choose to set the pattern for your generation. Choose to set the pattern for your family. Choose to set the pattern for your legacy. Your obedience today establishes the pattern for tomorrow’s success. Future generations are depending upon your obedience today. Choose to walk with God.
