God's Optimal Health Plan for You

DAY 29 OF 30

Watch Your Company

A challenge Paul faced while building the early Church was the influence of wrong associations. Once you have made a decision to live a life that honors the Lord, seek out individuals who share that same commitment. The Bible warns in 1 Corinthians 15:33 (AMP), “Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.” Look at what those who opposed Jesus tried to do—through lies, manipulation, and even betrayal. In life, some may not celebrate your desire to walk in righteousness, and they may respond with criticism, jealousy, or attempts to pull you back into old habits. Let your light of faith, integrity, and spiritual growth shine brightly, even in environments that resist truth.

People often resist godly influence because it challenges their comfort and convictions. In our walk with Christ, we must be intentional about who we let speak into our lives. Proverbs 13:20 (NIV) reminds us, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Surrounding yourself with people who encourage prayer, obedience, and accountability will strengthen your faith. One of the most loving and respectful ways to decline invitations to environments or activities that are contrary to God’s plan is to graciously say, “No thank you.” Guarding your heart by guarding your company will protect your spiritual health and help you continue walking in God’s will.
