God's Optimal Health Plan for Youਨਮੂਨਾ

Breathe Deep
In Genesis 2:7 (NIV), we read that God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” This divine act shows that our very existence began with God’s breath, making oxygen and breathing not only a physical necessity but also a spiritual reminder of our dependence on Him. Throughout Scripture, breath is often linked to life and God’s sustaining power—Job 33:4 (NIV) declares, “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life,” and Psalm 150:6 (NIV) urges, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Every inhale we take is a gift, sustaining our cells, energizing our bodies, and keeping the life God gave us flowing moment by moment.
Our lungs are the physical vessels for this breath of life, expanding and contracting to supply oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. Proper breathing—deep, slow, and mindful—not only nourishes the body but also calms the mind and spirit, allowing us to better hear God’s voice and enter His peace. Scriptures such as Ezekiel 37:5-6, where God promises to “breathe” into dry bones to bring them to life, remind us that just as oxygen revives our physical bodies, God’s Spirit revives our souls. By caring for our lungs through fresh air, regular movement, and good posture, we honor the gift of breath He has given, living fully in both body and spirit.
After completing today’s reading, join us by standing and taking ten deep breaths. You’ll be glad you did!
