Meditating on God's Greatness

DAY 6 OF 7

Wisdom in words and works

“Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.” (James 3:13 ESV)

“Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.” (James 4:11 ESV)

True wisdom is not shown in words; it is evidenced in life. James shows us that the wise man acts with gentleness and is careful not to speak evil. Faith and wisdom are not abstract concepts: they become visible in our decisions, our words, and our service.

Believing without acting is like having a new car with a full tank of gas, but never starting it. Many believers live this way: their faith is intact, but immobile. A politician, seeing the inaction of the church in the face of a tragedy, said: “You evangelicals are so good that you are good for nothing.” A harsh reflection, but also an urgent call to move from theory to action.

Our faith must be reflected in words that edify and in works that transform. If we don't have something good to say, we'd better keep quiet. And if we say we believe, let it show in our behavior.

Sometimes, we must go to the foot of the cross and confess our harmful words or our passivity when we should have acted. But today is a new opportunity. God calls us to a living faith, to practical wisdom, to serve, to get involved, and to edify by what we say.

Start today. Let your faith be seen. Let your words heal. And let your wisdom shine… starting in your closest circle!
