Day 5: Make a Difference – Peccary
Peccaries’ natural survival strategies actually change their world! When these ecosystem engineers wallow—roll in the mud to stay cool and remove parasites—they leave holes that fill with water. The “peccary puddles” provide drinking spots for many animals and are perfect places for frogs to lay their eggs.
We can also make a huge impact when we follow God’s ways. We may not always see the outcome of our kindness, patience, and generosity, but God does. And He multiplies the positive effects in ways we could never dream of, making us like ecosystem engineers for His kingdom!
Did you know?
Fun fact: When peccaries sense danger, they can make the hair along their spines—their dorsal manes—stand up. They may also clack their teeth together.
Live it out!
God’s kingdom is where love reigns and selfishness can’t be found. It’s a place where everyone has enough and everything celebrates God’s goodness. What is one thing you can do to make your world a little bit more like God’s kingdom?
Prayer
Good Father, when it seems what I’m doing doesn’t make a difference, help me to keep loving like Jesus did. Thank You for inviting me to be a part of making this world more like Your kingdom.
