Day 2: The Trap of Pleasing People

Zedekiah wasn’t an evil tyrant—he was weak.

His downfall didn’t come from aggression, but from fear of people. He was caught between pleasing his officials and obeying God’s prophet.

This is one of the deadliest traps for Pastors and Christian leaders: leading from insecurity instead of identity, worrying about optics more than obedience.

Zedekiah wanted to protect his image—and lost everything instead.

Contrast him with Ebed-Melech, a foreign servant who had no power, but spoke truth, took risks, and saved a prophet’s life (Jer. 38:7–13).

And God honored him for it (Jer. 39:17–18).

Today’s Reflection:

• Are you letting fear of what others think keep you from doing what’s right?
• Are you more focused on approval than obedience?

Prayer:

Father, help me lead with integrity, not insecurity. Deliver me from the fear of man, and make me bold to follow You—even when it’s unpopular.
