Running Life's Race on God's Teamਨਮੂਨਾ

God is our Pit Crew
During a race, the pit crew is a necessary and important part of the team. Whether it is NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1, or endurance and sports car racing, every car needs new tires and/or fuel during the race. Furthermore, when a car crashes, the pit crew is the first line of mechanics to get the car back out there. They risk their lives on pit road each week to service the cars and give the drivers a shot to win the race. We need those same people in our lives, too. When we crash, make a mistake, or go through a hard battle, we need people to help us get back into the race. God gives us those people in our family, friends, and mentors, but ultimately, he is the one who fixes us up inside. He transforms us into a new person and heals what has been broken. God is our pit crew.
The transformation and renewal that following God brings is described both in the Old and New Testaments. In Psalms, the authors describe God as one who “heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” When Jesus walked on earth, he performed many healings and resurrections. He raised a dead girl back to life, and he raised Lazarus from the dead. He healed lepers, a bleeding woman, demon-possessed people, and more. He provided both physical and spiritual healing. Paul says that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, and that their old selves have passed away.
So, who has been your pit crew? Who or what do you run to when things are not going well? Have you tried to have alcohol, relationships, money, work, or other things heal you or make you feel whole? While God brings these things into our lives to be good things, they are distorted by sin and are not reliable to bring us healing or fulfillment. Only God can bring true healing. He can transform us into victorious warriors, fit to run the race well and win. Will you invite him to be your pit crew and bring healing to your life?
About this Plan

Racing and following Jesus have many parallels. In the end, both lead to victory! This plan explores living a victorious life in Christ by comparing how he works in our lives with a motorsport team. This plan is a great way to explain what it means to follow Jesus and his life-changing work to a race fan. We were not meant to run this race of life on our own. Running life's race on God's team can lead us to victory through Christ!
