Impulses for the Way: 30 Days on the Camino De Santiago

DAY 22 OF 30

Lay Your Burden Down

Take a moment to pause. Inhale and exhale deeply. Let the weight of your body feel heavy on your chair. Sit for a moment in silence, breathe, and rest.

In today's video, Barrett marvels that Jesus is the only religious leader that bids everyone to come, lay their burden down, and find rest. When you give God your struggles, he trades them for his peace.

Philippians 4:6 says to not be anxious about anything, but that God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds. All we have to do is simply present our requests to him.

If you’ve been carrying your burdens alone, it’s time to come home. Run to Jesus.

Slowly reflect on Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (NIV).

Remain in this state of prayer for as long as you need.

About this Plan

Impulses for the Way: 30 Days on the Camino De Santiago

What if following Jesus was like walking the Camino de Santiago—dusty paths, vineyards, mountain passes, and ancient Roman roads? *Impulses for the Way* is a 30-day, video devotional filmed across 800km of this historic pilgrimage. Barrett Harkins, who lives in Santiago and serves pilgrims daily, shares stories from the trail, Scripture reflections, and prayers that explore restlessness, forgiveness, hope, and radical grace. Whether you’re on the Camino or navigating daily life, these short videos invite you to take the next step with Jesus—listening to the Spirit’s whispers and remembering this truth: you never walk alone.
