Impulses for the Way: 30 Days on the Camino De Santiago

DAY 16 OF 30

Gratitude

Start your time today by thinking of everything you are experiencing right now. Notice your surroundings—the colors, the sounds, and the smells.

In the video, Barrett explains that it is important to cultivate gratitude and give thanks to God who watches over us. He compares gratitude to directional arrows that point us toward “the source of all goodness, the giver of all good things.” Take a few moments to consider all that you have experienced in the last few days—landscapes, the weather, food, people, challenges, and joys.

Now slowly read this passage from Psalm 136: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever…He remembered us in our low estate… and freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever. He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (NIV).

Reflect on God’s goodness and love. Now give him thanks for the good and bad experiences you’ve had in the last few days.

What are some other things you can give him thanks for?

How can you practice giving thanks always and in everything in the coming days?

About this Plan

Impulses for the Way: 30 Days on the Camino De Santiago

What if following Jesus was like walking the Camino de Santiago—dusty paths, vineyards, mountain passes, and ancient Roman roads? *Impulses for the Way* is a 30-day, video devotional filmed across 800km of this historic pilgrimage. Barrett Harkins, who lives in Santiago and serves pilgrims daily, shares stories from the trail, Scripture reflections, and prayers that explore restlessness, forgiveness, hope, and radical grace. Whether you’re on the Camino or navigating daily life, these short videos invite you to take the next step with Jesus—listening to the Spirit’s whispers and remembering this truth: you never walk alone.
