Where Are You, God? 30 First Encounters With Godਨਮੂਨਾ

The Global Vision Fulfilled Today (Days 25-28)
Day 25: The Favelas of Brazil - Light in the Darkness
The favelas of Brazil are among the world's darkest, most dangerous places—especially for children. Controlled by drug gangs and marked by violence, these slums seem like the last place hope would take root. But God's Word has a way of breaking through even the strongest darkness.
Pastor D.* works in these forgotten corners of Brazil, where children grow up surrounded by anger, hatred, and despair. Many have never experienced love, living in environments where survival is the only goal. Yet in these unlikely places, something extraordinary is happening.
Twins Transformed
Sisters E. and E. came from a heartbreaking background, struggling with deep feelings of anger and sadness. The twins were heading down a dangerous path when God intervened, leading them to a church where they received special New Testament Bibles created to help teens navigate life's challenges.
Not only did God turn their lives around completely, but these same twins are now leading the program themselves—ministering to other teens and sharing Christ's love. What started as rescue has become multiplication.
Beyond the Favelas
The program's impact is spreading beyond the slums. Pastor D. recently began visiting a youth prison where children as young as 12 are trapped in spiritual darkness. Prison employees report dramatically improved behavior after his visits, as the light of Christ penetrates even these institutional walls.
Other communities are taking notice and asking for help. Pastor D. is negotiating with drug lords to enter two new favelas, and God is opening doors where human logic says they should remain closed.
The Power of Love
"A lot of kids in favelas do not know what love is because they are living in such a violent environment," Pastor D. explains. "But when they hear that people from around the world care about them enough to send Bibles, it's transformational."
Thirty thousand children have now experienced what love feels like through receiving these gifts—discovering not just the love of distant supporters, but ultimately the love of Christ Himself.
Present, Not Future
"Children aren't the future of the church," Pastor D. declares. "Children are the present of the church." In the darkest corners of Brazil, lives are being transformed one child at a time, proving that no place is too dangerous for God's Word to reach.
Your Frontlines
Where are the "favelas" in your world—places that seem too dark for hope? God is still placing His people on the frontlines, bringing His Word to the most unlikely places.
