Day 3 – Jesus is…the Great High Priest.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (ESV)

Devotional: In the Old Testament, the High Priest was Israel's spiritual leader. One of the main duties of the great high priest was to help people understand God's will. The greatest role of the great high priest was to lead the Day of Atonement. This day was observed every year to pray for the sins committed in the past year, but when Jesus fulfilled His rightful role as the great High Priest, He became our atonement. He paid our price. His blood was enough to wash away the sins of every generation. Jesus is the head and the bridegroom of the church. Jesus, our Great High Priest, fulfills the promises of the Old Testament and empowers us to have a right relationship with Him, because He has become our ultimate atonement. He is our spiritual leader whom we look to for guidance. The great High Priest knows what it is like to walk the Earth, and now He sits on the throne at the right hand of God, showing that His atoning work is complete.

Prayer: Jesus, Your atoning work is complete! Your blood was enough to wash away the sins I hate and despise. You are the perfect High Priest!
