Battling Addictionਨਮੂਨਾ

A Relapse is Not the End
One of my favorite quotes says, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”
Brothers, if you’re battling addiction or if someone you care about is struggling, know that you are not alone. Relapsing can be incredibly challenging, but it doesn’t define your worth or ability to move forward.
First, take a moment to speak to God. He truly understands every emotion you're going through. Having faced rejection, abandonment, and being misunderstood Himself, He can deeply empathize with your disappointment. No emotion is alien to Him; He walked this Earth and experienced all you face. God is not a distant figure who is removed from our struggles; He is intimately aware of your pain and knows the very number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30). You are not alone; He feels your hurt right alongside you.
Secondly, it’s essential to reconnect with your Sponsor or Therapist. Reaching out can genuinely make a difference. They can help you reflect on what you’re experiencing and guide you in refocusing on the path ahead. Together, you can explore strategies to help prevent this kind of relapse in the future. You deserve the support as you work through this.
Thirdly, please remember to stay in touch with your loved ones. Life can be incredibly tough, and the burden of addiction can feel overwhelming. Having a strong support system is crucial during these times. Being open and honest about your struggles, including relapses, can foster understanding and compassion, and it helps protect your loved ones from feeling hurt or disappointed. They care about you and want to support you through this journey.
The final suggestion is to take it one day at a time. It's completely normal to feel weighed down by regrets or shame, but try not to let those feelings hold you back. Remember that experiencing a relapse is more common than you may think, and it's essential to see it as just a detour on your journey to recovery. Lean on your faith in God and the support system around you to find your way back on track. You are not alone in this; each day is an opportunity to move forward.
If you or someone you love is battling addiction, please consider reaching out to Celebrate Recovery, a Christian 12-step recovery program.
Prayer: Father, be with anyone who has suffered a relapse lately. Please give them the courage to continue the good fight, just as Paul did (2 Timothy 4:7). Please give them the strength to be transparent about their setbacks and to find their way back on track. Amen.
Reflection: Have you experienced a relapse in the past? What helped you get back on track, and is there anyone struggling right now that you might support with that wisdom? Your presence can make a significant difference. Are you yourself struggling with a relapse right now? It’s essential to communicate with God and reach out to your loved ones during this challenging time.
