After Your Heartਨਮੂਨਾ

DAY 1: REACHING
Some moments in life bring us to the end of ourselves.
Desperation, disappointment, or a deep longing can strip away everything we once depended on. It’s often in those moments, when self-sufficiency runs dry, that faith becomes most real.
In the Gospels, Jesus doesn’t respond to people because they’ve earned it, because of their status or what they’ve achieved… He responds to people’s faith. Mark tells the story that is a great example of this. A woman with a medical issue for 12 long years sees Jesus walking by and says:
“…'If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.' Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.” – Mark 5:28–29 (NIV)
This woman was unnamed and maybe even unnoticed by the crowd. But she was not unnoticed by Jesus. Her touch stopped Him in His tracks, not because He was unaware, but because He always responds to faith.
Jesus didn’t ask for her credentials. He didn’t measure her worthiness. He responded to her faith. Not her belief in an outcome, but belief in Him.
That’s what the song After Your Heart expresses: “I don’t have much to bring, faith like a mustard seed... Oh I’m reaching for the hem of Your garment.” It’s the sound of a heart stripped of pretense or self-sufficiency, reaching not just for miracles or experiences but for the presence of the One: Jesus Himself.
Whether your faith today feels bold or as small as a mustard seed, the invitation is the same: reach. Because Jesus is the kind of Savior who stops for the one who touches His robe in faith.
Reach for Him. Not simply for what He can do, but for who He is. He will not pass you by.
GUIDED PRAYER:
LORD, I come to You with faith. I reach for You, not to prove anything, but because I believe You are who You say You are. I believe You still stop for those who trust You. Strip away anything I’ve leaned on more than You. Teach me to trust Your presence more than outcomes. You are not far. You are not indifferent. You are near, and You are faithful to respond. I’m after Your heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

About this Plan

There is nothing worth more than knowing the heart of God. This devotional invites you to seek His presence with faith, surrender, and trust. You’ll reflect on reaching for Jesus in desperation, resting at His feet in stillness, and walking with Him through life’s valleys. Each day, you’ll discover that God responds not to performance but to hearts turned toward Him. This devotion draws from the message of After Your Heart (Live), the live worship album from Paul and Hannah McClure, where every song draws you into the Father’s unchanging goodness and ignites a deeper hunger for His presence.
