The Creator's Timing: How to Get in Sync With God's Schedule

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5 - God’s Timing is Always Attached to a Promise

TODAY'S FOCUS: We can trust God’s timing because His promises will be fulfilled every time.

Throughout this look at God’s timing, one thing becomes clear.

Time is simply a tool in God’s infinite toolbox.

He’s not bound or limited by the times or seasons that He has created, but He uses them to show us how He works and brings His plans to completion in a way that reveals His purpose.

Perhaps it’s most evident in the way that God attaches a promise to every instance of His timing.

When God mentions a time, it’s a guarantee and deposit on an assured future. He has, and always will, follow through with what He has promised, when He has promised it.

One clear example of this is the Holy Spirit’s arrival at Pentecost, which was prophesied by Jesus. The fulfillment of this promise came only after the disciples were obedient and in one place—showing they trusted God to move when He chose to do so.

We also see God’s timing in the miracle birth of Issac to Abraham and Sarah in their elder years, in which God continually reminded Abraham that the promise He made would not be denied, even though it appeared to be delayed.

And finally, look no further than the promise of the Savior.

God continually shared His plan with the children of Israel, through the prophets, for the 42 generations that preceded the birth of Christ.

While kingdoms rose and fell, man obeyed and disobeyed, and people doubted whether God had forgotten His promise. His will was working through the generations that would make up the lineage of Jesus.

The promise that brought forth our salvation is the same kind He makes in the bounds of time, to show us His timeless love and faithfulness.

In our lives, timing can feel arbitrary, uncontrollable, and out of our hands. Yet, we know that there is nothing that happens in our lives as children of God that is not operating according to God’s timing.

That means there’s purpose in every moment of our lives.

If God has set a time, there’s a promise attached.

Our role is to trust, keep the faith, and participate in His ultimate plan as His promises come to pass.

Think back over your own life, when you may have questioned God’s timing.

What was the one thing that kept you from giving up on God?

Was it knowing that God can be trusted?

If so, maintain that trust and confidence in His great and precious promises.

As you consider your own timing for decisions great and small, look to your Heavenly Father as the ultimate source of wisdom, knowing that if you set your timing and your trust in His hands, He will attach promise and will fulfill the plans and purpose He has for you.

APPLICATION FOR TODAY

Set your mind and prayers toward acknowledging God’s ultimate authority over time, and accept and believe that His promises will always come to pass in His perfect timing.

Operate during your day with your eyes and spirit open to detect glimpses of God’s promises being fulfilled in your own life.

With time, you’ll sense God’s will and way becoming the default operating system by which you live your life.
