Be the Man They Need: Manhood According to the Life of Christ

DAY 7 OF 14

Devotional

When we think of a teacher, we often picture a classroom with desks in rows, a chalkboard, and lessons to be learned. Some teachers make learning exciting, while others push us to grow, even when we don’t always want to. But teaching is more than just a job or a role; it’s a calling. It’s about sharing knowledge and truth, helping others grow and walk in that truth.

Jesus, the ultimate teacher, did this better than anyone. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus is referred to as “Rabbi,” or teacher, and He was followed by thousands because of the wisdom He shared. His teachings didn’t just inform—they transformed. He taught with authority and clarity, and people marveled at His words. He didn’t just speak about rules; He got to the heart of God’s law and called people to live in a deeper, more authentic way.

One of Jesus' most famous teachings is the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), where He didn’t simply repeat the laws He was given; He expanded on them, showing the true spirit of God’s will. He challenged people to go beyond the letter of the law and to focus on the heart. He taught that even harboring anger was as serious as murder, and that lustful thoughts were as damaging as adultery. His teachings revealed that God’s law was perfect, but impossible to follow without His grace.

What makes Jesus’ teaching so remarkable is that it wasn’t just about knowledge; it was about transformation. He didn’t simply inform people; He changed their hearts. And that’s what true teaching does. It’s not about transferring facts; it’s about shaping lives, pointing people toward truth, and helping them walk in it.

Challenge

This week, think about one truth God has shown you and share it with someone. It doesn’t have to be profound, just a lesson or principle you’ve learned. Be intentional about passing on what God has taught you. Whether through a conversation or an act of kindness, teach like Jesus did.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being the perfect Teacher. You didn’t just speak the truth, you lived it and shared it with others. Help me to teach like You, with wisdom, humility, and love. Give me the courage to share what I’ve learned and help others walk in Your truth. Amen.

The Man We Needed

Jesus, the Teacher, didn’t just tell us what to do, He showed us. His words and actions transformed lives. Now, we’re called to teach others with the same love and grace.

Be the man they need.
