Be the Man They Need: Manhood According to the Life of Christਨਮੂਨਾ

Devotional
When we think of a king, images of palaces, crowns, and thrones often come to mind. But biblical kingship is about much more than power and wealth; it’s about leadership, responsibility, and sacrifice. A true king doesn’t rule for personal gain but for the good of those he leads. Jesus Christ, our King, redefined what it means to rule by leading with justice, love, and humility.
In the movie Outlaw/King, Robert the Bruce is portrayed as a reluctant leader who rises to embrace his calling to fight for freedom and justice. What makes Robert a compelling figure is not his desire for power, but his willingness to fight alongside his people, leading by example, sharing in their hardships, and protecting them. This is the kind of king we follow: one who sacrifices himself for the good of the kingdom.
Jesus, however, is the perfect King. He didn’t seek a throne of earthly grandeur; instead, He humbled Himself to serve and save humanity. Jesus, born in a manger, entered Jerusalem on a donkey, not a warhorse. He wore a crown of thorns and gave His life for us. His kingdom, though not of this world, will never end. His rule is marked by justice, mercy, and righteousness (Isaiah 9:7).
As men, we are called to reflect the kingship of Christ in our lives. We are called to lead with love, make hard decisions for the good of others, protect the vulnerable, and serve those under our care. Like Jesus, we are not to rule with oppression but with grace, truth, and humility.
Challenge
This week, reflect on one area where you can lead with sacrificial love, justice, and humility. Submit it to Jesus’ reign and act as a king who leads like Christ.
Prayer
Jesus, my King, thank You for leading with justice, mercy, and humility. Teach me to rule in my life with Your heart. Let me lead in my home, my friendships, and my work with the same love and sacrifice You showed. Amen.
The Man We Needed
Jesus, our King, reigns with truth, love, and justice. He laid down His life for the kingdom. Now, by God’s grace, it’s your turn.
Be the man they need.
