The Otherness of Godਨਮੂਨਾ

The Otherness of God

DAY 6 OF 7

Jesus is the decoder

Jesus came to earth to reveal God as a Father to us. The depth of this revelation is beyond human comprehension.

Please read the following passages. Write down what you discover about God and the role of Jesus in our understanding of God.

John 1:18 (BSB) - “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father’s side, has made Him known.”

John 14:9 (BSB) - “Jesus said to him, ‘Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.’”

Matthew 11:27 (BSB) - No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

Hebrews 1:3 (BSB) - “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word.”

John 1:3 (BSB) - “Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.”

Colossians 1:15 (BSB) - The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Hebrews 1:1-3 (BSB) - “On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son… The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature…”

Jesus revealed God the Father to us. He didn’t reveal all of the Father to us, because none of us has the capacity to know God in His fullness. Jesus, however, revealed more than enough of the Father and more than what we can fathom. He transformed God's total otherness into realities that we can understand: love, grace, forgiveness, being a child of God, holiness, mercy, goodness, sovereignty and the punishment of sin. Jesus is the complete and final revelation of God’s character to us. Everything the Father wants us to know, we will find in Jesus.

If you say, “Father, show me Yourself,” you will find the answer as you study Jesus. He, Himself, is the explanation, the One that can show you the Father.

When you have spiritual questions, ask the Father, through the indwelling Holy Spirit: “Show me Jesus.” As you begin to see Jesus better, many of your questions and uncertainties will be resolved.

About this Plan

All of us are thinking about God - who He is, His character, His promises, His acts and what we can expect from Him. We always need to understand one thing: God is totally different from us. This is the content of this study: The otherness of God. It is rich in meaning.
