Kids: Dare to Live Generously! By Wycliffe Bible Translatorsਨਮੂਨਾ

Be Generous With Your Treasure
Isn’t it so fun to open up a birthday card and find some money you can spend any way you want? And earning some money for helping out with chores feels so good too. It’s nice to have a piggy bank or purse or wallet that’s ready for when you go shopping. It’s like having your own little treasure chest!
Karri is a girl who lives in Sydney, Australia. She loves to go with her dad when he takes his metal detector to the beach. They walk along the breezy shores and search for treasure in the sand. Isn’t that cool? Even if they don’t find any, they just enjoy the time in God’s beautiful creation. They just have a fun hobby together.
Even though money is important to be able to buy food and things you need, the Bible has a strong warning about the love of money in 1 Timothy 6:10a (NLT), where it says that “... the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” Money itself isn’t bad, but when people love money — more than family or friends or God — that can cause a lot of hurt and harm.
God’s people should be generous with money, or “treasure.” That means you shouldn’t want to just keep it all for yourself; you should want to give it to others who are in need and to share it with others simply for the joy of sharing. And you shouldn’t give while grumbling either, because the Bible says that God loves a person who gives cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7).
The best way to think about money is to remember that every bit of it — whether you earn it through chores or get it during holidays or birthdays — is a gift from God because it all comes from Him. He’s the one who created you, after all! No one could earn money or even know how to spend it if God hadn’t created people able to do so. He gave you your mind and body, your talents and skills so you can think and work and make things happen!
The way you think about money matters a lot. And being willing to share what you have with others, generously, is a way to worship God that leads to great joy.
Prayer Point:
Thank You so much for everything, God! Everything I have is from You and for Your glory. You are the greatest treasure I could ever hope for, and all my gifts and treasures come from You! Please teach me the lessons You want me to learn about generosity, and help me to live out what I learn from Your Word. Help me to trust that You will always provide what I need, plus many blessings! Help me share all those good blessings with others with a cheerful heart that is full of joy when sharing my treasures. Amen.
