Peace in Chaos for Families: 3 Days to Resilient Faith

DAY 1 OF 3

Does your life ever move so fast that connecting with God feels impossible?

I get it. As a mom raising two high-energy boys, noise and constant demands can quickly push me into overwhelm. Between meal prep, school schedules, and sibling conflicts, spending time with God often feels like another item on an already impossible to-do list.

When we're stressed or stretched thin, our sense of connection with God is often one of the first things to fade.

For years, I made a critical mistake: I viewed Jesus and the peaceful life He offers as "the light at the end of the tunnel." I thought I needed to power through difficult seasons to eventually find Him waiting there for me at the end, when things finally calmed down.

I missed something huge.

Jesus isn't just the light at the end of your tunnel. He's the light IN your tunnel.

When life feels rushed, when you're worried about your child's behavior, or when you're navigating family challenges, that's precisely where God meets you. You don't have to wait until things improve to engage with Him.

GOD'S PROMISE IN CHAOS

Isaiah promises God will be WITH you when you pass through overwhelming waters, ensuring they won't completely overwhelm you, and to PROTECT you when you walk through difficult seasons.

This covers everything.

  • Meltdowns in grocery stores
  • Sleepless nights with sick kids
  • The constant juggling act of everyone's needs
  • Even the heartache you didn't see coming

REFRAMING: THE PRACTICE THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

Your awareness of God's presence doesn't eliminate challenges, but it transforms how you experience them.

Everything changes when you reframe difficult moments not as something to escape but as places to encounter God.

Please hear me: I don't seek hard times. I've just learned to look for:

  1. How God is there with me
  2. How His Word proves true even in difficulty

A few years ago, my family faced a medical emergency that landed both my newborn and toddler in separate hospitals on the same day. Even in those hospital rooms, God showed up. We didn't have to wait until all was calm to notice Him.

This plays out in smaller moments too: when you're overwhelmed by bedtime resistance, when you've lost your patience, or when you're questioning long-term decisions.

MY OLD PATTERN VS. MY NEW REALITY

  • OLD THINKING: "If only I can get through this chaos, THEN I'll have time to connect with God."
  • NEW REALITY: "God, show me how You are HERE, right now, and what to do NEXT."

Sometimes seeing God's presence is as simple as slowing down enough to look for Him—recognizing you're not alone, no matter how stressful the circumstances feel.

YOUR 60-SECOND GOD-ENCOUNTER

Where is life most difficult right now?

Whatever it is, God isn't waiting for circumstances to improve before showing up. Ask Him: "Lord, show me how You're with us in this."

Kid Connection: Try This

Pick a room that’ll be dark with the lights off. "Let's turn off the lights for a minute. Even though it's dark, am I still here with you? That's how God is with us when things feel hard or scary—He doesn't leave us alone in the dark. Next time something feels scary or hard, remember that God is right there with you. You can ask Him for help."

Tomorrow, you'll discover how to find God in ordinary family moments.
