The Laundry Pile

Verse:
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’” —2 Corinthians 12:9a (NKJV)

Devotional:
There was a season where the pile of laundry felt like a mirror—stacked high with all the ways I felt behind. It wasn’t just about clothes. It was a symbol of everything I couldn’t keep up with: meals, emotions, expectations. Most days, I felt like I wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t until years later—when my grown children told me that one of their favorite memories was running and jumping into the pile of dirty laundry in the basement—that I realized God had been at work in the very places I saw as failure. What I viewed as a sign of falling short, they remembered as fun. Joy. Safety. Home.

God’s grace was present, even in the mess. Even in the piles.

Prayer:
God, thank You that Your grace covers my gaps. Help me to see my home the way You do—full of life, love, and Your presence.
