Kingdom Parenting

DAY 3 OF 4

Day 3: What Do You See?

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you…”
Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV)

“A man from the family of Levi married a Levite woman. The woman became pregnant and had a son. She saw there was something special about him and hid him for three months. When she couldn’t hide him any longer, she got a little basket-boat made of papyrus, waterproofed it with tar and pitch, and placed the child in it. Then she set it afloat in the reeds at the edge of the Nile.”
Exodus 2:1-3 (MSG)

Every child carries a divine purpose. As we’ve established in Jeremiah 1:5, God forms each child with intentionality. But it takes spiritually sensitive parents to see and act on that purpose early.

Moses’ parents were a purposeful couple raising a purposeful child. Scripture tells us that Moses’ mother “saw” there was something special about him, and because of what she saw, she chose to hide him.

What do you see in your child?
What you perceive shapes how you parent. If you only see a child to feed, clothe, and educate, then you’ll stop there. But if you see a prophet, a nation-builder, a kingdom ambassador, you will parent differently. You’ll become intentional.

Parenting requires agreement. Both father and mother must align in their vision for their children. Amos 3:3 (NKJV)says, “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Agreement is key in raising children according to God’s design.

Moses’ mother didn’t just see—she acted. She hid him. There is wisdom in hiding— not hiding in fear, but in discernment. In today’s world, with the influence of media, culture, and technology, our children need to be covered. Hiding involves building them up in the Word. It means creating a spiritual atmosphere that keeps them rooted in their identity in Christ.

She also prepared a basket—she waterproofed it and set it afloat. She released Moses into a dangerous world, but not without preparation. That basket represents the environment we build around our children: prayer, scripture, counsel, values, and truth. The Word of God becomes their anchor—it keeps them afloat no matter the storms.

Teach your children that there is a Word for every situation. Raise them to know who they are in Christ, so that when the waters rise, they don’t sink—they stand.

Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to see the purpose You’ve placed in my children. Help me and my spouse walk in agreement as we raise them. Give us wisdom to hide them in Your Word, to prepare them for the world, and to launch them in faith. Let Your Word keep them afloat in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
