Have you ever tried to navigate a route without a map? There have been many times I have tried to reach a destination, adamant that I’ll find my way there without help! Most times it has ended in a U-turn or two, or a dodgy one-way gravel road leading to the middle of nowhere. Finally, I pull over and turn to my GPS for help.
God gives us His Word, a powerful yet at the same time practical ‘map’ for life. He also places wise people in our world who can speak truth to us. These ‘maps’ direct us toward sound decisions and lead us to think well, act well, love well, and live well!
Imagine if we took the time to slow down, hear and listen to God’s advice. It’s amazing what happens when we do! It sets us on a trajectory towards good. If only I would lay aside my pride, impatience and even my own ideas to listen. God’s way is best.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you that you give us a reliable map for life; Your Word. Thank you that you also place wise people around us. Help us to lay aside our own ideas to truly listen. Thank you that you lead us into good as we follow your guidelines for life. Amen.
