Hosting God’s Presence in Your Marriage – a 10-Day Devotional Guideਨਮੂਨਾ

DAY 8: Divine Wisdom or Earthly Wisdom?
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”— James 3:13 (NIV)
Wisdom isn't just about knowing; it's about applying the right knowledge in your marriage. Every marriage is unique and has its blueprint. Your spouse is different from anyone else's. There is a way to relate to your spouse that may not work in another person's marriage.
That's why divine wisdom is always superior to earthly wisdom.
Earthly wisdom often comes in the form of popular social media advice, self-help opinions, or trendy relationship theories that can leave you more confused than helped. But God’s Word remains a sure foundation—timeless, dependable, and relevant to every season of your marriage. Let it be your standard!
Wisdom, at its core, is about dealing with situations in your marriage from a posture that reduces conflict, friction, and tension. Wisdom removes confusion and permits spouses to align with what the Father is doing.
Never forget: you are hosting God's presence in your home. This requires letting the Holy Spirit teach you what you need to do daily regarding how your spouse is behaving, what you need to do to grow, and areas where you need to transform.
For example, if you are married to a traditional man who believes in culture over the Word, you will need to be more patient and gentle in your approach. Doing this will safely earn you his trust while pointing him to the truth.
Suppose you are married to a woman who grew up with an absent or emotionally unavailable father, you would need to mind how you speak to her because she’ll subconsciously seek stability and validation from you for her emotional safety.
You cannot navigate these deep and delicate realities with worldly wisdom. You need the wisdom that comes from above—wisdom that is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17).
So, are you building your marriage on the philosophies of the world? Or will you stay rooted in the Word of God to navigate your marriage?
