New Day, Same Godਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 3 – How can we follow God’s word when the world contradicts it?
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are not given the luxury to pick and choose how we want to serve Him. There is a price we all pay for becoming a new creature in Christ. Starting with abandoning sin, old habits, and following the world, renewing our hearts and minds must be committed to daily practice.
Accepting Jesus is essentially making a life-long commitment. In fact, it is the best marriage one will ever have. A believer commits to love God with all their hearts and soul (see Deuteronomy 6:5), to live a life of holiness (see 1 Peter 1:15-16), and to share the gospel (Mark 16:15).
So how can we follow God’s Word when the world contradicts it?
Scripture says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” –Romans 12:2
It also says, “Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17-18
Given all the evidence we could possibly need that God, and His Word never changes, this is where we should draw a line in the sand. We are not given the power, nor the ability to revise God’s Word (see Revelation 22:18-19). We have a better chance of being kept free when we embrace the truth and live by it, than when we reject it. So let us be encouraged today!
Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father, thank you, for drawing me closer to you. This is a new day, but you are the same God. Being a friend of the world means enmity against you (see James 4:4). But every good and perfect gift is from above, and it brings me joy to know that unlike how the world changes, Your Word will not pass away (see Matthew 24:35). Lord, I want to serve you, and be true to you, like you are to me. Give me the strength to resist the world’s way but always follow yours. Thank you for being a lamp for my feet all the days of my life (see Psalm 119:105). In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
About this Plan

The Bible is old, outdated, and does not apply to the twenty-first century; these are the sentiments that some believe by the actions they demonstrate. Bree Jackson uses scripture to illustrate that the Word of God is very much alive and active in the times we live. In New Day, Same God, Bree challenges us to consider three important questions: How can we be sure that God is the same? How can we trust the Word of God in a changing world? And how can we follow God’s Word when the world contradicts it?
